The prayer consists of a series of recitations of verses from the Quran, followed by a prayer of supplication to God.

The funeral prayer is performed in the presence of the deceased, and is typically done by a family member or close friend of the deceased.

It is important to note that the funeral prayer is only to be offered by a Muslim, and is not to be offered by a non-Muslim.

The prayer begins with the recitation of verses from the Quran. Depending on the length of the funeral service, these recitations may include the first four verses of Surah Al-Fatihah, the last three verses of Surah Al-Baqarah, and a few other verses from the Quran. After the recitations of these verses, the prayer of supplication is offered.

This prayer is an opportunity for the mourners to ask for God’s mercy and comfort for the deceased.

The prayer of supplication begins with the phrase “Allaahumma salli ‘alal-mawla wa sallim” (O Allah, send your mercy and peace upon the deceased). This is followed by the phrase “Allaahumma ‘aafinee feehi wa ‘aafinee ‘alayhi” (O Allah, forgive him and forgive us).

After this, the prayer of supplication is offered, and the mourner is to ask God to forgive the deceased and to grant them peace and mercy.

After the prayer of supplication, the mourner is to offer a few words of comfort and encouragement to the deceased, such as “May Allah have mercy on you, and may He grant you peace and a place in paradise.”

The funeral prayer is then concluded with the phrase “Allaahumma ‘innee ‘as-aluka rahmata wa barakaatahu” (O Allah, I ask You for Your mercy and Your blessing).
